UPCAT Practice Test: 60 Reviewer Questions With Answers
A full UPCAT reviewer with the 60 original questions from our practice-test video, each with an explanation, plus what the UP Office of Admissions publishes about the four subtests, the University Predicted Grade (UPG), eligibility, fees, and the UPCAT 2027 timeline.
The UPCAT has four subtests: Language Proficiency and Reading Comprehension (both in English and Filipino), Science, and Mathematics, in a test day of about five hours. UP combines your standardized UPCAT score with your final grades from Grades 8 to 11 into the UPG, and also considers socioeconomic and geographic factors. Calculators are prohibited, and Filipino applicants pay no application fee.

UPCAT 2027 Explained: Subtests, Scoring (UPG) & 10 Reviewer Questions
UPCAT practice test: 60 questions
These are the questions from our UPCAT reviewer video, in English, across the four subtests: 17 language, 14 reading, 15 science, and 14 math. UP doesn't publish item counts per subtest, so the split is ours, and the Filipino portions are not covered. Pick an answer and press Check Answer to see the explanation; missed questions go to a retry queue. Every question is original, not from a real UPCAT.
There is no official UPCAT passing mark, and your UPG also includes your grades. As a planning goal, 42 or more of 60 (70%) is our own estimate, not a UP number.
Who can apply
UP's General Information Bulletin for first-year admission in AY 2027-2028 lists two groups: Grade 11 students in AY 2025-2026 who are expected to finish senior high school by the end of AY 2026-2027, and senior high school graduates. Applicants need complete final grades for Grades 8 to 11.
You can't apply if you have taken college or other post-secondary courses, have taken the UPCAT before, or had a UP application processed in a year when no UPCAT was held.
Forms and the UPCAT 2027 timeline
The process uses three forms: Form 1 is your online application, Form 2A is your school's confirmation that you are its student, and Form 2B is where you encode your Grade 8 to 11 grades after the exam. Your school also submits a certified true copy of your SF-10 (Form 137), wet-signed and sealed.
For UPCAT 2027, Form 1 applications ran from March 3 to March 30, 2026, extended to April 13. The test was held on August 1 and 2, 2026. Form 2B and SF-10 submission ran from August 3, extended to September 21, 2026. UP expects to release results within the first half of 2027. For comparison, UPCAT 2026 results came out on April 22, 2026, with replies to offers due May 16.
How the UPG and selection work
UP combines your standardized UPCAT score with your Grade 8 to 11 final grades to compute the UPG, and also weighs socioeconomic and geographic factors. Campuses and degree programs then select by rank against their quotas and/or cut-off grades, so there is no single fixed UPG that guarantees admission. The bulletin sets a minimum UPG of 2.800 to file an appeal through the DIWA portal.
Because your grades count, protect your school marks from Grade 8 on, and treat the exam as one part of the picture.
Test day
Bring your test permit, a school ID or government ID, at least two pencils, a sharpener, an eraser, water, and snacks. Calculating devices, phones, smartwatches, and cameras are strictly prohibited, so practice math by hand.
Check your reporting time on your permit: UP's pages are not consistent. The bulletin says 6:00 a.m. for the morning session and 12:00 noon for the afternoon, the UPCAT homepage says 6:30 a.m. or 12 noon, and the permit lists the session as 6:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m.
How to use this reviewer
This plan is our suggestion, not UP's. Take a timed mixed set first to find your weakest subtest, then give about half your hours to it. Language: review verb tenses, agreement, and parallel structure, and learn words in context. Reading: find the main idea first, then check every choice against the text. Science: review one topic a day and explain it out loud. Math: redo misses by hand and write every step.
In the last two weeks, take full timed sessions that match the five-hour day, with proper breaks.
Sample UPCAT questions with answers
One question from each content area of the practice set above, with the answer and explanation. Try it before you open the answer.
Language Proficiency
The list of required documents ____ posted on the bulletin board.
- are
- were
- have been
- is
Show answer
D. is
The subject is the list, which is singular, so the verb is singular too. The phrase of required documents is a distraction. Are and were agree with documents, and have been is plural.
Reading Comprehension
“Sari-sari stores sell goods in small, affordable amounts. Although supermarkets now reach more towns, the neighborhood store survives: owners know their customers by name, and many allow buying on credit.” Main idea?
- Supermarkets have failed in the Philippines
- Sari-sari stores are cheaper than every supermarket
- Neighborhood stores survive by offering small amounts and personal trust
- Buying on credit is common in supermarkets
Show answer
C. Neighborhood stores survive by offering small amounts and personal trust
The passage explains why neighborhood stores survive: small purchases and personal relationships. Supermarkets are described as spreading, not failing, and the text never compares prices or says supermarkets give credit.
Science
Which organelle is the main site of ATP production in a cell?
- ribosome
- Golgi apparatus
- nucleus
- mitochondrion
Show answer
D. mitochondrion
The mitochondrion is where most ATP, the cell's usable energy, is produced through cellular respiration. Ribosomes build proteins, the Golgi apparatus packages them, and the nucleus holds the DNA.
Mathematics
Simplify (3x² · 4x³) ÷ 6x²
- 2x⁵
- 2x³
- 12x³
- 7x³
Show answer
B. 2x³
Multiply the top: 12 x to the fifth. Divide by six x squared: 12 over six is two, and x to the fifth over x squared is x cubed. So the answer is two x cubed.
