Life and Health Insurance Practice Test
Check the concepts that show up across state life and health license exams. Every question is original, gets an explanation after you answer, and links to the federal law or government guidance behind it.
What this set covers and what it does not
Topics: Life insurance taxation, Annuities, Group and employer coverage, Medicare supplement. This is a concept check, not a simulation of your state exam. Your state sets the outline, the passing score and the state law section. Pass-rate and format facts for Texas, Florida and Washington are in our pass-rate guide and exam format guide.
Questions are labeled editorial samples until a qualified reviewer approves them. If you spot an error, the cited source is the authority.

Is this a real state insurance exam?
No. These are original practice questions on concepts shared by most life and health exams. They do not copy or predict any state's exam, and they contain no state-specific law. For state law, use your state regulator's content outline.
Where do the answers come from?
Each question cites the federal statute or government guidance it is based on, such as 26 U.S.C. 101, 26 U.S.C. 72, the SEC variable annuity guide, the Department of Labor COBRA page, HealthCare.gov and Medicare.gov, with the date we checked it.
How hard is the life and health insurance exam?
Official reports show about half of attempts pass: Texas reported 52% for Life, Accident & Health (January-September 2024) and Florida reported 51.7% for Health & Life (2024). See the how-hard guide for the full breakdown and caveats.
Is there a state-specific practice test?
Yes for Washington Life and Disability: a free source-linked diagnostic with study cards. More state sets are planned; each will be built from that state's official outline.
