These are the questions from our two CCAO-F practice-test videos (50 each, none repeated), grouped by Anthropic's domains. Pick an answer and press Check Answer to see the explanation; missed questions go to a retry queue. Every question is original, not from a real exam, and each has a single answer, while the real exam also has multiple-response items.
Anthropic publishes no raw-score cutoff, so treat about 80% here as a comfortable target in our estimate, not an official number.
CCAO-F exam domains and weights
Anthropic's exam guide lists seven domains. Output evaluation is the largest, and judgment-heavy domains (output evaluation, workflows, governance) are more than half the exam. The practice set on this page follows the same weights.
| Domain | Weight | Questions in our practice set |
|---|---|---|
| Prompting and Task Execution | 14% | 14 |
| Output Evaluation and Validation | 21% | 22 |
| Product and Model Selection | 12% | 12 |
| Workflow Integration and Solution Design | 16% | 16 |
| Configuration and Knowledge Management | 12% | 12 |
| Governance, Risk, and Responsible Use | 15% | 14 |
| Troubleshooting and Optimization | 10% | 10 |

Who the Claude Certified Associate is for
Anthropic aims the Associate credential at professionals who use Claude as a productivity tool in operations, marketing, project management, education and communications, plus consultants, sellers and delivery leads who help others adopt it. It is awarded on exam performance alone; there are no required courses.
It is not the developer or architect credential. Associates are expected to recognize when work such as API builds or agent systems belongs to someone with those skills.
Who can register
Anthropic's eligibility page says the exams are open only to staff of organizations in the Claude Partner Network. You register with a company email on a domain listed in your firm's partner record (personal emails are rejected), you must be 18 or older, and you need a government ID. Joining the Claude Partner Network is free for organizations.
Scoring, fees and retakes
Scores run from 100 to 1,000 and 720 passes. The standard is criterion-referenced, so you are measured against a fixed bar, not other candidates. Your result appears on screen at the end with your percent correct in each domain. Anthropic does not publish a pass rate or how many items you need right.
The fee is US$99 per attempt. Anthropic's FAQ lists 50% off for Select, Preferred and Global Premier partners and 100% off for Global Premier through December 31, 2026. You register and pay in the Anthropic Partner Academy, then schedule with Pearson VUE; the FAQ says to cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours ahead.
If you fail, you wait 14 days after the first attempt, 30 after the second and 90 after the third, with at most four attempts per exam in a rolling 12 months, each at the full fee.
Renewal and the December 2026 content update
The credential is valid for 12 months. On-time renewal is a free, non-proctored assessment in the Partner Academy; if it lapses you retake the full exam at full price.
Pearson VUE's Anthropic page says the exam gets updated content on December 7, 2026, with updated exam guides from November 17, 2026. If you test on or after December 7, study from the new guide.
A two-week CCAO-F study plan
This plan is from our study-plan video: about 90 minutes a day, roughly 21 hours, split by the official weights. The hours are our estimate, not Anthropic's.
- Days 1β2: read the eight-page exam guide, rate yourself on every objective, try its three sample questions and a timed practice set, and set up a real Claude Project with instructions and knowledge files from your work.
- Days 3β5: prompting and troubleshooting. Be clear and direct, explain why a rule matters, use 3 to 5 varied examples and XML tags; when output goes wrong, find the cause and change one thing at a time.
- Days 6β8: output evaluation, the largest domain. Check every specific claim against a source, learn the warning signs of hallucination, and match the review level to the stakes.
- Days 9β10: products, models and configuration: chat vs Projects vs artifacts vs Research; Haiku, Sonnet and Opus; Project instructions, knowledge files and connectors.
- Days 11β12: workflows and governance. Map a real process, know when to escalate, and read Anthropic's Usage Policy on high-risk uses.
- Days 13β14: a full timed practice test and exam-day logistics.
Sample Claude Certified Associate questions with answers
One question from each content area of the practice set above, with the answer and explanation. Try it before you open the answer.
Prompting and Task Execution
You ask Claude to 'write something about our new expense app,' and the draft is generic. What's the best fix?
- Add more exclamation points
- Retype the prompt in capital letters
- State the audience, goal, length and format
- Cut the prompt down to three words
Show answer
C. State the audience, goal, length and format
Anthropic's prompting guide says to treat Claude like a brilliant new employee who lacks context on your norms. Spell out who it's for, what it should achieve, how long it should be, and what shape it should take. Capitals and punctuation add no information.
Output Evaluation and Validation
Claude's summary of a market report includes a precise growth figure you can't find anywhere in the report. Best response?
- Treat it as unverified until you find a source
- Keep it; precise numbers are reliable
- Round it so it looks less exact
- Ask Claude to sound more confident
Show answer
A. Treat it as unverified until you find a source
A precise number that isn't in the source is a classic sign of a possible hallucination. Treat it as unverified, check the original report, and ask Claude to quote the passage it relied on. If no source supports it, take it out.
Product and Model Selection
You need a sourced briefing that pulls from many web pages and your connected Google Docs. Which Claude feature fits best?
- An incognito chat
- A single quick chat with no tools
- Account-wide instructions
- Research
Show answer
D. Research
Research is Claude's in-depth mode. It runs several searches that build on each other, and it can use connectors you've enabled, like Google Docs and Gmail. It needs web search turned on, and it's on paid plans. Incognito chats and instructions don't gather sources.
Workflow Integration and Solution Design
Your manager wants Claude to speed up the weekly sales report. What's the best first step?
- Automate everything on day one
- Map today's inputs, steps and pain points
- Buy more software first
- Ask Claude to guess the process
Show answer
B. Map today's inputs, steps and pain points
You can't improve a process you haven't mapped. List where the data comes from, each step, who owns it, and where time is lost. Then you can see which steps Claude can draft, summarize, or check, and which still need a person.
Configuration and Knowledge Management
Claude should use Client A's terminology, but only in work for Client A. Where does that rule belong?
- In Client A's Project instructions
- In your account-wide instructions
- In each file name
- Nowhere; Claude will infer it
Show answer
A. In Client A's Project instructions
Claude's help center says project instructions apply only to chats within that project, while account-wide instructions apply to all of your conversations. Client-specific rules belong in the client's Project, so they never leak into your other work.
Governance, Risk, and Responsible Use
A colleague wants to paste a client's confidential financials into a personal Claude account to save time. What's right?
- Fine, if they delete the chat later
- Fine; it's faster
- Use only approved accounts, per policy
- Fine, if the file is renamed
Show answer
C. Use only approved accounts, per policy
Confidential client data belongs only in tools and accounts your organization has approved, under its contracts and settings. Deleting a chat or renaming a file afterward doesn't undo sharing data in the wrong place. When unsure, ask your security or compliance team first.
