Wonderlic Practice Test: 50 Questions With Explained Answers
Warm up for an employer's Wonderlic test with the 50 original questions from our practice-test video: word meaning, analogies, number and letter series, math word problems, and logic. Then see what Wonderlic itself says about the 12-minute cognitive section and how results are used.
The cognitive ability section of Wonderlic Select (formerly WonScore) has 50 questions with a 12-minute limit, the same length as the classic Wonderlic Personnel Test. No calculator, dictionary, or other resources are allowed, and Wonderlic says test takers are not expected to finish all 50. There is no passing or failing grade: results are weighed against the needs of the job, and the test is free for candidates.

Wonderlic Practice Test 2026: 50 Questions With Explained Answers (12-Minute Format)
Wonderlic practice test: 50 questions
These are the 50 questions from our Wonderlic practice-test video, in five sections of ten: word meaning, analogies and sentences, number and letter series, math word problems, and logic, ordering and spatial reasoning. The real test mixes the types together. Every question is original, not a real Wonderlic item.
There is no pass or fail here, just as on the real test. Use your score as a baseline, then try a timed run at about 14 seconds per question and compare.
What the Wonderlic cognitive test measures
Wonderlic says its cognitive questions cover simple math, basic logic, language comprehension, spatial reasoning, and pattern identification, and that they become more difficult as the test progresses. Only some questions involve calculation, and the numbers are meant to be worked without a calculator.
Twelve minutes for 50 questions is about 14 seconds each, so speed matters as much as knowledge. Wonderlic says test takers are not expected to complete every question in the time allowed.
How Wonderlic scores work
Wonderlic Select scores the cognitive section on your overall response pattern, weighted by item difficulty and guessing. There is no passing or failing grade and no universal 'good' or 'average' score: each employer decides what a given job needs.
Candidates do not receive a numerical cognitive score. You may get a Candidate Feedback Report if the employer provides one. Treat any 'average Wonderlic score' you see online as unofficial; Wonderlic does not publish one for Wonderlic Select.
Timing strategy
Wonderlic advises candidates not to spend too much time on individual questions and not to skip around. In practice that means: read every word (especially 'opposite' and 'not'), pick your best answer, and move on.
Bank time on the fast question types. Word meaning and analogies usually take seconds; math and logic take longer, so arrive at them with time to spare. Do arithmetic on scrap paper, because you cannot use a calculator.
How to use this practice test
Take the set once untimed to find your weak type, then fix it: for word meaning, read the instruction twice and learn a few new words a day; for analogies, say the first pair as a sentence and test each choice in it; for series, write the gaps between terms; for math, practice percents and fractions by hand; for logic, sketch the order on paper and use only what the question says.
A few days later, take it again at 14 seconds per question to feel the real pace.

Word meaning and vocabulary
CANDID most nearly means:
- Frank
- Careful
- Sweet
- Hidden
Show answer
A. Frank
Candid means frank and honest, saying what you really think. A candid answer hides nothing, so hidden is close to the opposite.
Analogies and sentences
HAND is to GLOVE as FOOT is to:
- Toe
- Knee
- Walk
- Sock
Show answer
D. Sock
Say the link as a sentence: a glove is worn over a hand. What is worn over a foot? A sock. Toe and knee are body parts, not coverings.
Number and letter series
What comes next? 3, 6, 12, 24, ?
- 36
- 48
- 42
- 30
Show answer
B. 48
Each number is double the one before. 24 times two is 48. If the gaps grow fast, test multiplying before adding.
Math word problems
A $40 shirt is on sale for 25% off. What is the sale price?
- $35
- $15
- $32
- $30
Show answer
D. $30
25% is one quarter. A quarter of $40 is $10, and 40 minus 10 is $30. Watch for answers that give the discount instead of the price.
Logic, ordering and spatial
All managers are trained. Kim is a manager. Which MUST be true?
- Kim trains others
- Kim is trained
- All trained people are managers
- Kim is not trained
Show answer
B. Kim is trained
Every manager is trained, and Kim is a manager, so Kim is trained. Choice C reverses the statement: all managers are trained does not mean all trained people are managers.
